This period was not merely a job but an immersive field study. From the driver’s seat, he gained firsthand, unfiltered exposure to the realities of American roadways. This experience illuminated what he identified as “critical gaps in traffic enforcement systems” and, just as importantly, a systemic “lack of recognition for drivers who prioritized safety”. He saw a system focused almost exclusively on punishment, with little to no mechanism for rewarding the vast majority of drivers who operate their vehicles responsibly. This ground-level perspective is a powerful strategic differentiator; unlike solutions developed in sterile engineering labs, PIFD’s model is born from an empathetic understanding of its target users—the drivers themselves. This empathy is manifested in the company’s dual-pronged approach, which transforms drivers from mere subjects of surveillance into active partners in creating safer roads. 

This professional insight is deepened by a profound personal mission, forged in the wake of immense personal tragedy. Silva endured the loss of his three-year-old son to liver cancer, an experience that catalyzed a lifelong commitment to philanthropy. This commitment is not abstract; it is demonstrated by concrete action. He became an agent of change by brokering a critical partnership between El Salvador’s Department of Oncology and the world-renowned St. Jude Research Hospital. This collaboration is credited with leading to a remarkable and tangible increase in childhood cancer survival rates in the region. This history of identifying a systemic problem, envisioning a solution, and successfully executing a partnership to save lives reveals a leader driven by a purpose far greater than profit. It is this same ethos that he now applies to the public health crisis of road safety.
